the chlorophyll in the grass helps aid with stomach discomfort, and is harmless. if your dog does this a lot, vet time. (maybe a change in diet?) no people food for the pets, though! not on the menu!! we have beagles that are garbage guts and would eat ANYTHING, ANYTIME. when one of them gets into something they shouldn't have, like the pork roast left unattended on the dining room table, (true story) grass will soon be involved. good luck with your puppy-girl!

There is not enough vegetable matter in processed dog food so dogs will instinctively graze to supplement their diet. It is a normal thing and most dogs do it at times. They actually make little pellets that are compressed vegetable matter that you can give your dog when you feed them. The reason that dogs throw up after eating grass is that there are little spines of most types of domestic grass blades. These little spines irritate the dog's throat and they gag to stop the irritation. If you have ever given yourself a grass cut then you know what I am talking about.

Sometimes dogs just graze, they have the teeth for it why not. Othertimes this could be a sign of stomach upset. Dogs eat grass to calm their stomachs. Is she eating regular food normally? Does she have gas or does her tummy rumble when she is lying still? Keep an eye on her, it could be nothing, but if she just started doing this it could be an early sign of illness. Keep an eye out and have your vet's phone number ready.

There could be different reasons. It could be because of a tummy ache. It could also be the dog is nervous or scared about something. My dog is afraid of storms so whenever there is a storm my dog goes out to eat grass unless we reassure him.

The cellulose in grass provides dietary roughage. The dog will take a couple grass meals now and then to 'stay regular'.

It's okay...if a dog eats grass it is because they are having problem with their digestion and need roughage. They really know what they need. Nothing to worry about. It is a perfectly normal for dogs to do that.

Grass has the proteins and enzymes the dogs need to relieve an upset stomach, it's normal.
