Does shorter hair make you look older? Does it turn men off?

Im 26 and I look 17. I desperately want to look like the grownup mother I am and not my sons big sister. I was once told the shorter the hair and the darker the hair the older you look is this true do you find?
But short hair is something men dont find attractive right? so which is worse: to young to look like a woman? or an unnatractive one?

I probably couldnt cut it shorter than a bob so would it be moot then?

HAHA! I have the EXACT same problem as you:) I am 26 and people think that I am in high school. I would warn against chopping your hair off or dying it. I have done both. I cut my hair short and died it brown (I am naturally light blond). I didn't like the response that I got- I got less attention (both positive and negatice) in general from men and women.

I did get a better response when I started dressing older, though. I have started wearing more adult clothes on purpose to get more respect. I try to wear heels as much as possible and I try to wear nice tailored clothes. I avoid hip-hugger jeans and flip-flops (because those make me look REALLY young).

I think that it depends on the guy. There is a lot of guys out there that like girls with short hair and besides I have heard a lot of guys say it doesn't matter what your hair or clothes look like it's how you represent yourself that makes you sexy or attractive. Why don't you cut your hair a little above your shoulders and layer it-which in my opinion makes women look older and also dye your hair a little darker or put darker highlights in it. I don't know how you dress or if you wear make-up, but dressing age appropriate and wearing the right amount of make-up can make you look more your age.

You will be so grateful in a few years you look younger, PROMISE. Some petite women look great with short hair and yes it does add some maturity. Go to a place that can do a computer image of you with short hair to see how it fits with your face. All men love long hair, but I think they like a cute haircut too. Don't go so short it looks like a mans cut. I am thinking how you act, how you dress is more addressing maturity then a haircut!

To look like a young woman. Be glad you dont look your age. If your 26 and you look 17 then think how old your gonna look when your 50! Yes most guys do like longer hair better. You can have a short hairstyle and still look attractive.

I absolutely LOVE women with short hair. It's very attractive to me and I've always liked it.

Long hair is okay, but for some reason, short hair just does it for me.

I don't believe that stuff about the darker or shorter your hair looks, the older you look. That makes no sense and has no logical reasoning behind it. Maybe if you were *losing* your hair, you'd look older, but just 'cause it's shorter won't make you look that way...it'd make you look sexier and more mature, but not older.

Depends. If you have the facial features for it, you could possibly pull it off. If you're worried that you'll look like a soccer mom or a mental patient, I'd find a salon with computer makeover imaging to help you make a decision. Good luck!

I don't think most men like shorter hair on women, but some women are so sexy that it doesn't matter that much. I guess it depends on who you are wanting to attract. If you like your hair short, wear it that way. Some guys will like it anyway, I'm sure.

(P.S. Some of us can't say much, anyway. We have long hair! lol)

I would think being the age that you are you would enjoy looking so young. If you are a mother and i would assume your married.. Why do you want to attract guys?

let your hair grow, i think short hair looks teribble at any age, unless it has a nice style, on yonger people, but older women should have long to mid length hair.

Short hair can be very sexy think demi more in ghost. I dont think it makes you look older either
