No, christianity is about loving others and following the example of Christ. But there is no requirements to give away your money and have a socialist type of life. God blesses some more than others for his purpose, there will be rich and there will be poor, this is the way of life and God

This was the way it was in the beginning. Everyone shared and all were provided for. Somehow people, not only politicians but Christians also, associate money with power and freedom. I believe we are short on compassion. If our hearts were open to others, we would be cut to the quick spiritually on seeing their desperate needs. We would give up any goal that diminished our ability to full fill God's calling to serve. We must pray for God to give us this compassion AND then be willing to receive it. We are the rich.

Come on mate, seriously, for an educated person, I thought you would know an answer to that.
Christianity is founded on values and principals that are heart felt and Practicted, it's not just name...What good is it if I claim proudly that I am a Christian and do the total opposite...That is why many people are rich and refuse to share, they are not practicing true christianity.
Yet, having said that, I know many many many stinkin rich Christians who devote all their riches and earnings to charities like orphanages, hunger-striken countries, evengelism, church buildings, education and homes for the homless, just to name a few.
Christianity Gives people salvation through Jesus Christ and free will to accept and practice the principals of loving and caring for your brother...it does not give a chip on their shoulder...and as another answer above said, because we are not in a communist environment.
I hope this helps...God bless ya.

Christianity has nothing to do with material things. You don't have to be either rich or poor to be a Christian. Equality among Christians is not about finances but about love.

Because Jesus himself tells us that the poor will always be with us. Since that is the case we will alway have Christians who are rich and poor and somewhere in between.

no because we dont live in a communist country and everyone must work to eat. now go get a job
most ppl who think like you are lazy liberals, stop making excuses to leech off the working class :)
honey we live in a land of opportunity. if you have no money to go to college, u have the pell grant to pay for your college. poor ppl are poor for a reason. and why should i pay for a healthy person to eat when he is able to work himself....grow up and i'm done with this question

It's funny. I see more Pagans and liberal Christians donating their time and money to charity than Bible-thumpers.

The conservatives love to twist the Bible so it suits their greed and laziness: "Jesus says there will always be poor people so I guess it's okay not to anything about it. Goody, more money for me!"

Because some people work hard and save there money and spend it wisely. Others don't
Why should one person do that and then give it to someone who won't work, spends foolishly and says give me a handout.
Jesus said, "the poor will always be with you."
Knowing some people won't work.

There is. We come into this world with nothing and we all leave the same way. Rich or Poor doesn't matter, we are all judged the same!
