I think that you might be jumping to conclusions. The acdemic advisor may just have been a ***** to everyone, not just black people. If it really bothers you, don't send him there. But, I think that he will be fine. I went to a private school that was 85% white. The black parents had an association to provide support to each other. The black students also had an association to support each other. They were both some of the most powerful associations in the school. I don't know if it will be the same at this school (my school was VERY liberal...catholic schools tend to not be that way), but it's worth a shot. Just keep your cool.

I'd either send a letter to the principal or the head office in the diocese. Also, if the diocese has some kind of office for equality or something like that, I'd write one there, too. I'd specifically mention that you were especially hesitant in writing this letter because you did not want to hurt your child chances in getting in but that your conscience continued to bother you because it's so unChristian. Make it clear that if your son, who meets all the criteria of the school, does not get in, you will assume it was because of this letter. I can understand you're anger. Regardless of the reason, but perhaps especially because of what we both think, this kind of rudeness shouldn't be tolerated by anyone any more. Good luck!

Do not go to that school. There are so may nice schools around, you will be able to find another one. If you go there, you will not find happiness for yourself or for your kid. Remember that first impression is the best. So if you got bad one, just walk away. It's not worth it. We came from Russia and did not speak English a lot at first and had to deal with the same issues, even we are white. So I know exactly what you are talking about. Just walk away. You are better then those people.

Nice question first of all. I can see why you believe she was very rude, and believe me I have met people like her. She probably is racist, considering the school's racial percentages you provided. She probably only allows Caucasians (whites) into her school, which is very unorthodox for a Catholic School, which the religion (trust me I know, I am Catholic) teaches to accept all colors, black, white, green, yellow, blue, etc., not to distinguish and refuse teachings to the eager students waiting to be taught. I would talk to the superintendent or principal, and tell them exactly what you told us here.

It is not a skin thing that is how they are. I'm white I faced the same issues and I did not get in to Catholic high school. They looked down on my disability. They are a privet institution they can include any one they want. That is why the boy scouts disclose the gays, why there are black only schools, and women only schools. Get over it. I have.

You should keep on acting polite and decent to the school advisor but I think you should have a strong role in your son's life and defend your family if needed. You should talk to the school advisor privately and be nice to her but have a strong and imposing charecter. Very good question, it was a pleasure answering it. I hope my answer works.

It's been a few years since I did business will parochial schools. Seems to me they were always aloof, and snooty in the counselors offices and the business office too. Doesn't matter about your color, it matters about your money. The education was excellent, but the staff stunk, every time.

maybe you need to stop victimizing yourself. you can't be judgmental of someone you hardly know, just like she shouldn't be judgmental of you. maybe she was having a bad day; maybe there were a TON of parents with stupid *** kids trying to kiss *** just so they could get into that school; maybe she found out her son was just arrested for drug possession and she need to post bail... who knows!
anyway, point is, you shouldn't think that everyone is rude to you just because you're black, because the whole world does not revolve around you or your skin color.
