Because the collective unconsciousness seeks to rationalize a widely varied universe, and therefore people believe things that justify their world, which reaffirms it. All minds are linked, but each is partioned for its own purpose...

Most religions are different because they developed in different cultures and in different geographical locations. These are what some call "pagan" religions and usually are quite indistinguishable from the culture and people it arose from. Often some "pagan" beliefs and practices will survive even if the people have adopted another religion. Observe the Christian west. Our old "pagan" beliefs survive as folktale and holidays like Easter and Christmas.

Other religions are different because they developed in response to the political climate of the time. Christianity, Protestantism, Islam, and Baha'hi are some examples.

There have also been countless cults and smaller religions that have arisen for a variety of reasons: money, revelation, fame...

It is one of those things where were you come from and what you are taught helps answer this. The main thing is that we are all heading toward the same place!

God.. or whoever you want the all might to be, is one who has been around for several years. I feel as long as we have a belief and appreciate where we come from and give thanks, we are on the right track because we are trying.

My belief is through the sanctification of Jesus Christ. Even though there are those who condemn me because I am gay, I know in my heart that I am saved. They, who condemn are the ones who need to look into their souls and asks that simple question. "What would Jesus do?" Point made! A person who walks the walk is not one who is perfect. Nor are they who SAY they walk the walk. All I know is that I have an honest love of my Saviour and what He did for me and I am a kind gentle soul who does more for people than many of those who condemn me. But that is okay. Jesus was in the same boat. I live as a testimony of what He did. I try my best not to hate.

God loves all!

Religions are different because of the many prophets God has sent.

Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, Baha'ullah were all messengers of God sent by the spirit to add to the wisdom given by earlier prophets, not to destroy it.

Closed minded people who only see the world in black/white us/them and are afraid of change have not grown enough to see this so they wage "holy" wars.

I am a Baha'i and we are the first religion to have as a basic principle; "Progressive Revelation". If you read the holy books of all faiths, they say the same basic thing, just some new bits added as mankind becomes "old enough" to understand these new messages.

Good luck with your search.

I think it is because there is one god that introduced himself to these people in a form that they would be comfortable receiving as a god. I think if a culture was approached by a god that didn't look similar to them they wouldn't have been as accepting of his authority. When you break down any given religion they all share the same basic core beliefs the only difference is they each have a different name for what I believe is the same god.

Just like families do when referring to Aunt Salley she may be auntie to some sally to others or salad to others.

Because people are different, cultures are different, environments are different. So why shouldn't religions be different ?

IF we EVER encounter extra - terrestrials, ( & the extra - terrestrials don't think we're complete schmucks or good only for pet food ! ) THEY will definitely have different religions, totally alien to anything on Earth, I'd bet.

Cuz people misunderstand, or don't like reality the way it is, so they try to come up with something they're comfortable with.

Even within each religion, we all know people who try to adjust the teachings to fit their own selfish desires.

Actually, I'm never surprised when I find two people who believe differently. I'm just impressed when I find someone who believes things that are relatively close!

they all still have the same basic principles, no matter which religion you are. they all say you have to be good, you have to love one another, forgive, and teach each other. all religion are the same, it's just different on the name of the religion.

There are many man made religions its true.

Religion is people trying to live up to rules, and trying to be good.
The Bible says that no one is good. We have all sinned and fallen short of God's standard. We need to repent and ask God forgiveness, and live out our lives for His purpose. This is Christianity - being a disciple of Jesus.
