Brand-new babies' poop doesn't really smell, so you won't have to worry about it for a while. Once the baby starts eating solid food, then you might want to learn how to breathe through your mouth. :)

It's not that bad. The smell is mostly absorbed by the diaper. If you are on top of diaper changing and disposal there shouldn't be any noticeable smell expect when you're actually changing.
By the way, if you want to learn to hold your breath for a long time, look up free diving or apnea clubs in your area. You can learn to hold your breath and a thrilling new sport at the same time!

sounds good... I've got changing down to a science...takes me, 30 seconds. Open the diaper first and have it ready, line up the wipes, then HAVE AT IT!!! I can have that bum cleaned, fresh, and offensive odor free. I'm sure at first it will take longer for you, but once you got it down, you can be fast, and effective. (I would like to note tho, that women don't seem to offended by this, wonder why, are we damaged in the olfactory area by you guys before the babies get here???) And the worse (even more than toddler poo) is SOMEONE ELSE'S KIDS POO (so leave the nephews/neices and babysitting children to someone else).

You can change a baby's diaper in well under a minute. It doesn't even smell that bad, at least not until the kid is several months old.

Love the question :)
The bombs are not terrible until your little one starts to eat solid food. And then it may get bad! But if you are prepared, you can change a diaper without taking a breath.

Depriving your self of oxygen during pregnancy also deprives your fetus. Not a smart idea while pregnant. You'll be so enthralled with the new baby the smell won't bug you. Also you'll need to know when it smells, cause then that usually means they are sick. At least that has been my experience.

SIMPLE!! Breathe in and out of your mouth-you'll never smell a thing. I've used this technique for years; almost got brain damage from holding my breath that long!

Get used to the fact that you're gonna smell the baby's poo. It's natural. I don't know why women can do this, but the MACHO men can't. It makes me wonder how they can even call themselves men.

It doesn't take that long, and it WILL smell, but keep yourself preoccupied while you're doing it. Talk to the baby, make him/her laugh or let him/her know what you're doing, it'll make it go by faster
