'Die well' sounds like a phrase that has survived over the ages. Centuries ago,in some of the warrior cultures, it was a disgrace or dishonor to die on the sickbed or to die of old age. To die in battle was considered a good death. I guess over time, the phrase 'die well' would be to die as one would wish.

Never heard that, and if it does mean dieing in my sleep, I don't want it. Dieing in your sleep is like cheating the final part of your life. I want something a little more dramatic, like being burned on a stake, crucified, or electrocuted.
