In many places Islam is the only religion available. God will hold people accountable to what they know.

That's exactly so. Allah is a false god....that's why they have the crescent moon over their mosques...he was the "moon god" and was chosen by Mohammed to be the god he would worship.
These are the differences between the god of Islam and the God of the bible...so you can see they cannot possibly be the same:
The God of the bible has a son, Jesus, who died on a cross, rose again, and is the only way to salvation.
Islam says that (their) god does not begat nor was he begotten. Islam states Jesus did not die on the cross. Islam does not believe that salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God.
Therefore, the biblical God and the god of Islam cannot be the same.

The Islamic religion claims its roots through Abraham's first son (with Sarah's slave, Hagar) Ishmael. Therefore, they believe that they are the true heirs of Abraham and the promises that God (or Allah) made to him.
Judaic religion claims its roots through Abraham's second (and promised) son, Isaac, with his wife Sarah. Isaac's son, Jacob, was given the family blessing and his name was later changed to Israel. He had 12 sons and 1 daughter. His sons made up the "12 tribes of Israel". Collectively, all his heirs were known as "Israelites". Eventually the Israelites became known as the Hebrews and later as the Jews.
Jesus was born to a Jewish woman who was engaged to a Jewish carpenter. Because of this Jewish heritage, Pontius had the sign "King of the Jews" nailed above Jesus' head on the cross.
Muslims view Christians as polytheistic (having more than one god) because they do not believe, understand or accept the three persons of God in the trinity (i.e. Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
Muslims view Jews as inferior because they are from the line of Isaac, second son of Abraham, rather than from Ishmael, Abraham's first son.
Whether or not you can say that "Allah" is the same God that Christians believe in is impossible since which part of the trinity would "Allah" be? The Father? The Holy Spirit? Most likely they would acknowledge only the Father, since they see no need of a Jewish Messiah (i.e. Jesus) or the work of the Holy Spirit to create life-redeeming faith in them.

Islam is just another form of worshiping the same god that christians do. Muslims believe that they are the descendents of ishmael, the older half brother of isaac, and that he should have inheritted. They follow the teachings of the prophet Mohammed, and believe that Jesus was just another prophet, not the actual son of God. so. no, Allah is not a moon god, but another name for Jehovah
