Normal AA's won't hurt the camera, but should be used only in an emergency. They have a very, very short life in a digital camera.

Best is NiMH rechargeables with a rating of 2100 ma or higher. These will last a long time, and can be charged many times.

Get a kit with charger and batteries for $18 to $50. I got Samsung kit with small, fast charger and 6 AA's for $18 at Costco.

I also have a EasyShare C360. AA batteries DID NOT Ruin the camera. But according to the user manual it was Strongly Discouraged I believe. So it's your judgement call.
