Just curious...If people take the time to answer a question, the asker should take the time to read all the responses and pick the one that was most helpful....right?
I didn't know where to put this so i'm putting it in parenting because I seem to be in there the most :)

I tend to choose best answer unless there is a reason not to do it. It saves three points.

There is one I had with Andrew the Owl where we made the decision to let the voters choose, simply because we were interested on what everybody else would think.

In any case, most of the time, yeah, the asker is just being lazy.

Well honestly I am guilty of this only because after I have chosen a best answer or liked someones opinion, I am not allowed to give my Best Answer, right away. Yahoo Answers insistes on me waiting 24 hours, and by then I am either away from the computer or I dont have time to check my email to see that I need to chose one.

I think because people don't know about it yet. I just learned about Yahoo!Answers this weekend when I read on CNN that Stephen Hawking posted a question and got 17,000 responses. So I said, if Steve is using this site, imma gonna jump on the bandwagon myself!

What if the asker doesn't get the right answer, or many of them answer in the same way.

Sometimes people dont always think the answers given are the best. Some usually have an idea of what they want to hear specifically.

sometimes there are no answers worth picking as a best answer. I have asked a question and did not like any of the answers.therefore no best answer.

Because they're lazy. Yep, even with the modern convenience of a computer, they're too lazy to take three seconds to click on "Choose Best Answer".

I don't pick an answer when I can't choose. That has only happened once but that could be why some people don't answer

Maybe they don't know they get 3 points for picking a best answer, plus another point if that choice is confirmed?

So you almost get your points back for asking a question.

Not that I'm that worried about points...

I wish that more people would choose a best answer. I have chosen best answers for all but one of my questions that I recently asked. I'll be choosing a best answer for it soon.
