Track down the credentials of a particular Buddhist monk? Is there an Online list of authenticated monks.

So, looking up credentials for a monk who wants me to come out to Nepal to work with him and others on a community project. I just wanna be sure he's not a dodgy monk thats all.

I don't think there is a list that has all of them, google his name, also if you know the school he belongs to, search on websites and forums related to that particular school of buddhism, that shouls narrow it down a bit

I really don't know if there is any perticular way to track down the credentials of a monk. Usually, when I go home to Sri Lanka, all the monks aren't questioned about if their the real deal or not. I think there is mutual trust. I don't think any person would go around parading to be a monk if he wasn't. Do you get what I'm saying?

i dont think you need any credentials. buddhism is a search for inner peace. if he/she is asking for money theyre not in it for the peace, theyre in ot for the cash.
