I'm a 23 yr old female, healthy, smoker, on anti-depressents. Shaking in both hands started two months ago when I was on the Nuva Ring birth control. Figured it would go away after I got off it, but it didn't. Any ideas?

I am a male in my twenties... though a bit older than you... I used to do the same thing and when I stopped drinking so much pop and coffee, it stopped happening so much.

Seems like either a nurse or a doctor told me that too much caffeine can cause that, which is why I tried it. I don't remember FOR SURE that that is where I got the advice, though.

first question have you talked to your doctor... second... the shaking could be a number of thins... your not healthy if you are smoking... and being on a anti-depressant isn't healthy either... your shaking could be the effect of the mixture of the combined intake.. meaning the smokes... pills and birth control... if your not taking the birth control how long has it been? ok one down... the nicotine in the cigs and the pills could be causing the effect.... something is attacking your nerve system and yes that is why your shaking..your nerves... but not like you would think... its a chemical unbalance... I suggest you go to the doctor when you can and alert him/her before the shaking gets out of control... my mother is an ex-smoker and when she would drink coffee and smoke at the same time she would shake from time to time but not all the time... and yes she was also take some kind of estrogen pill (I can't remember the name of it) no she doesn't smoke or take that kind of medication and she is fine....

Certain medicines can cause shaking. If it bothers you call your doctor. Some of these side effects last a short time.
