When shut, the trunk lid produces a lot of rattling coming from around the keyhole area. Everything is tightened as it should be. Should I sound deaden (Dynamat, Second Skin, etc) the trunk lid?

If you apply pressure downwards on the shut trunk lid, the rattling seems to stop, as if the trunk lid doesn't shut all the way which is why it produces the rattling.

Any other suggestions?

Yes. Get all that obnoxiously loud stuff out of your car. The ticket in my town is $100.00 now for loud car stereos. Yeah, not as much as your overblown sound system, but when they start impounding them, it will be.

I have that same head unit, it puts out a lot of bass. I have a Dodge Intrepid and the trunk used to rattle bad. I bought some Dynamat, yeah the trunk kit is expensive but its well worth it, took out the rattles. Hope this helped

dynamat it. dont waste money on a trunk kit for 100+. Get two of the custom roll kits. Theri around 6 sqft each and are plenty for the job and only 25 each. Just put some around the latching area and on the decklid. vibration usually ocurs most where metal touches metal so concentrate there. hope it works

Before you buy a ~$130 trunk kit, buy one of these: http://www.crutchfield.com/s-zfl036k44rj... (you'll need it, even if you buy a trunk kit). Then, if it's still rattling, try adjusting your latch, to make the trunk latch tighter (lower). And if all else fails, you'll have to buy this, which is much better than the $130 trunk kit, anyway: http://www.crutchfield.com/s-zfl036k44rj...

But, with only one 12, you really shouldn't need anymore than the license plate kit, which, BTW, is available at Fry's. Well, that and adjusting your trunk latch. I have four 12's, with over 2,000 watts of Kicker power pushing them, and I only Dynamatted my trunk lid.;)

The only thing i've heard of that stops the rattling is putting a lot of rubber seal around the trunk. I don't know if you've done it already but that's all i know of. Hope it helps.

WOW PEOPLE ON HERE DONT KNOW HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION CORRECTLY. THE PRODUCT THAT YOU NEED IS CALLED DYNAMAT, YOU CAN FIND IT AT ALMOST ANY CAR AUDIO SHOP AND EVEN ON ONLINE RETAILERS. DYNAMAT ACTS LIKE A SOUND BARRIER AND IT DAMPENS THE EFFECTS OF BASS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR (EXAMPLE:TRUNK RATTLING) HOWEVER IT WILL IMPROVE YOUR SOUND QUALITY AND SPL. YOU CAN FIND THIS AT SONICELECTRONIX.COM UNDER THE LISTING FOR DYNAMAT. AND TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE THERE MUSIC LOUD FU(K YOU, YOU ARE NOT INTO MUSIC AS MUCH AS US, OR GOOD SOUNDING MUSIC.
