Mazda is not wholly owned by Ford, but Ford is probably the biggest share holder, therefore there is alot of sharing of parts such as new 2.3 L engine is Mazda design, (Ranger and focus) Ranger trucks use mazda trannies I think, Ford helped mazda out when they were falling behind in early 90s. Ford's new car is based loosely on Mazda 6, etc... Ford did / does plant sharing here is USA. Probe and MX6, Ranger B-series, Escape Tribute.

Ford has a significant stake in Mazda but does not own it outright. The do own enough that they can dictate much of what Mazda does and there is a LOT of technology swapped between the two companies. A lot of Mazdas are actually made in the US.

ford owns lincoln, mercury, volvo, jaguar, land rover, aston martin, and yes mazda. Why do you think the new ford edge looks so much like the mazda cx-7??

lets put it this way. ford doesn't own mazda but mazda works with ford. mazda is still a japaneze company but work with ford. they share ideas of designs and stageties. ok

yea and let me tell you that mazda is way better then ford, ford cars are horrible except for the mustangs and big heavy duty trucks

They own a big portion of the stock. Use to be 60 percent 10 yrs ago. I heard the bought all the stock but don't know that for sure.
