If you are an American citizen by birth, then your birth certificate and a gov't issued photo ID will work. **FOR NOW** The requirement is changing to require a passport for all international travel within the next few years. However, a passport is ideal - less hassle at the border.

If you are a naturalized citizen, you should bring your US passport, but documentation of your naturalization and gov't ID should suffice.

If you are NOT a US citizen, then you MUST carry your passport from your country of origin.

You'll need at least One Piece of Photo ID...whether it's a Driver's Licence, Passport,etc...A Birth Certificate/Social Security Card are good additional forms of Identification.

You need proof of citizenship, so bring your birth certificate. A passport would work, too.
