Sweetie it is going to get harder the older you get, but you must remember that every challenging thing that comes in your life builds character in you. It makes you patience, loving, kind, strong, etc. Don't harden your heart toward your mother. We all make mistakes, you know they don't have a manual to raise children. My mother has made many mistakes, but I still love her and respect her. I found out not to long ago that the father that I thought was my father wasn't and I'm 37. My stepfather tried to molest me and my sister and my mother stay with him for many more years. My grandfather even tried to molest me. Many other things have happen in my life, but it has just made me stronger and more determined not to send my child through the same thing. You need to be more active in charity work, helping others that want help and surround yourself with positive people. Some friends are only meant to be friends for a certain amount of time, not forever. Baby, it will get better, but make sure you stay strong for the worst. If you need someone to chat with or email I'm here. colleyshey@yahoo.com and I'll add you to my yahoo messenger. With Love

First off, I feel for you! 16 is a hard age, heck 16 thru 22 is pretty hard, but 16,17 and 18 are some of the hardest years a person can live thru, your emotions are all a stir, you understand so much more than you did just a few years before, but your still to young to really interact with the big wide world without being taken advantage of or being hurt. All this will pass, as you get older you will find more and more things that make you happy, 10 years from now you will probably even laugh at the way you were at 16. Stay away from drugs, they only will make things worse in the long run, getting pregnant will not "TURN YOU INTO AN ADULT" it will only make you have tons more responsibility's. Hang in there, you will very soon have the rest of your life to do whatever you want, you will have earned it!

It gets a lot better once you turn 18.
The truth is you will have a lot more responsibilities as well as freedoms, but overall it gets so much better when you become an adult. You only have 2 more years to go, and I know it sounds like a lot right now, but looking back it will be a blink of an eye.
Under your circumstances, I reccommend getting a part-time job now to get the work-experience under your belt so you can move out when you graduate from HS. If you start working now, and you're responsible with your money, saving at least half your paycheck, you'll be well ahead of most people when they graduate. You sound like you're not quite fitting in because you're mature for your age. Consider graduating early and starting junior college to meet people who are more at your emotional age-group. You probably haven't had a long relationship because teenage boys are stupid and hormonal. Wait for a real relationship and if anyone asks why you don't have a boyfriend, just tell them that your standards are too high.
Best wishes.

I remeber life sucking during the teenage years too. You seem to have the sh*t end of the stick right now. Just wait it out a couple years and it will all probably change. Focus on school, join a group (band, choir, student council, sports, etc.) That will keep you positively occupied and you will meet new friends. Your best friend seems to be bringing you down. So, why not try making new friends or doing things without her? Maybe you could save some money and buy yourself a cheap car or a moped. You sound like an intelligent and responsible person. Good luck to you and always follow your gut feelings and your heart.

Just wait it out. When you get to college, you call the shots. When you look back at all the fun you thought you were missing out on, you'll realize you didn't miss out on anything. When you're 16, everything seems important, when really, almost none of it is. Just enjoy the time you have with your smoking friend because someday she'll end up pregnant or running off with a band member. keep your head straight and enjoy the good times.
Life gets better. High School is the worst time of any kids life. But if you have a crap time in high school, chances are you'll be having a good time later. It's the ones that have too much fun in high school that end up stuck in their crappy towns, married to the prom queen and talking about the big game. And to adults, they look and sound ridiculous.
Do your best in school and try to go to college somewhere out of state where everything is new. THEN life will be great.

Yes it gets better.I have a teen aged son and man, does he give me a hard time.Actually his mother gets it more than I do.But that's OK.I was the same and I got over it.Now I am fine so will my son be and so will you.Just hang in there and make the best of a bad situation. You are only sixteen.Plenty of time for long relationships. My first relationship with a girl was after I turned 20 and that was not a long one.If you cannot talk to your best friends then she is not your best frien. That is what best friends are for. They should be able to talk to you as you should be able to talk to her.Find another friend.Even better find five more and see if one of them will develop into a best friend.Life is full of challenges and every person should have the strength to face those challenges.Take you time to grow up .Enjoy your young years for too soon will they pass.Read books. It improves your general knowledge which in turn will make you do better in school. The better you grades the better your chance of good employment and financial freedom. Then live starts to really pick up.Enjoy

Eventually life does get better, cuz you get to live on your own :) For know, a long relationship will come off course, you're only 16, you've got all te time in the world. As for the car, you think they won't let you use their car. That implies that you never actually asked, try that ;) You shouldn't worry to much about your mom, if she thinks sitting on the coutch watching tv all day is normal and constructive, let her, try not to get annoyed.
Last point, get it through the head of your best friend's mom that you're not a babysitter and that she should loosen the strings on your friend.

You need to find new friends, be nice if they were a year or two older than yourself, with more experience.
Life as a teenager can suck at times, but we all survive those years, and once you are on your own, you can make your own life.
It won't be long now, two more years and you will reach the age of an adult. Then you can make your own plans for your future.
Just hang in there, it does get better.

Well first off, Happy 16th birthday. Let me tell you, life only gets harder and you get older. Worry about your own responsibilities, not your mother's. She is a grown woman and can handle her own issues. Of course support her, guide her in the decisions she trying to make, but don't go doing everything for her. Enjoy life, your 16. =)
