Day care centers are GREAT even if you dont need the time off.. Children need to learn social skills and day care is the best place to do so. Make sure you understand the policies and procedure of the day care. Most daycares should be willing to let mom or day hang out to get the feel of how they are with the kids :) if not then find a new one

LIke anything involving your family, you have to do careful research on centers and take your time visiting them, getting your name on waiting lists, knowing what you are looking for. We picked the first center we saw because on the surface it looked great. Once our daughter (2 at the time) was in a few months and summer was over, the class size went up to 22 toddlers for 2 teachers, the teachers started quitting, she had 3 teachers in 5 months, and the teachers were always just sitting on the side while the kids romped around with dirt on their faces hititng each other. NOT!! So we made a big mistake not taking our time, had to go back to the drawing board, have her in that place the absolute MINIMUM hours while we found a wonderful place (Montessori) with small class sizes, lots of individual attention, art, tumbling, preschool - kindergarten, etc. We learned the hard way so my best advice is take your time and research/visit/observe and ask friends! :-)

Yes, just find one that is suitable for your children. Ask family if they know of good centers. Don't just make phone calls, make visits to centers, and ask a lot of questions. If they aren't open to answering all your questions then they might not be the best place for your child to be. Find out the how many adults are there for every child. Find out their policy for disciplining children in their care. Look around to see how the children are interacting with the staff and how clean the center is kept. Also, make sure that you are able to stop in anytime to visit or inspect the center at anytime.

Yes, make sure they have a good reputation meet there employees and check they are qualify. Check up on your children show up without the daycare knowing. ask alot of questions. They will get sick maybe a little more but its okay, besides they learn more and by the time they are in pre k they already know everything they want to teach them. They probably will get smarter. I recomend it just do a good research what daycare to trust with your children.

I think staying home with the kids is a better option because they get more individual attention and you get to decide how the young child is raised. However, day care situations do socialize children faster.

I never did. If you HAVE to then I guess you have to. I'm sure there are some very good day care providers out there.
