One thing you need to realize is that fleas breed quickly. It is possible that they have become resistant to the insecticide. You'll have to read the labels and check out the active ingredients to really know for sure. You can buy something with a different active ingredient that may work. Now about fleas...they only stay on an animal long enough to feed then they jump off. If you have them in your house, then you've got them on your pets and on the outside too. You'll need to treat all 3 of these. The fleas won't go into the ceilings, they'll go in the carpets. So I would recommend some things: either call an exterminator to do your house and yard, or you can do it yourself. I would recommend you go to a pet supply store or a vet clinic and get some flea control stuff. First of all, a company called Vet Kem has some very good flea killer foggers, dips and yard sprays. I've used them many times and they've never let me down. But this may be a little expensive. Get some foggers....go with one can for each room, cover or remove any fish , and make sure you remove any other pets out of the house. Buy some Vet Kem Yard and Kennel Spray. You may have to go to Wal-Mart and get a hose spray attachment. Finally, buy some Paramite dip...if it's for a dog. Don't use this for a Cat. Set off your foggers and close up the house, turn off the a/c. Then while that is going on, spray your yard with the yard and kennel spray, spray all trees 3 feet on down, brick also. This will also kill any other bothersome insects that are outside in your yard (roaches, ticks, silverfish). Then when you've done that either buy some paramite dip, or have your animal dipped professionally at a groomer or vet clinic. I would recommend the Paramite Dip, because it's excellant on fleas and ticks and has good residual effects. If you dip your dog yourself, then you'll have to let your yard dry from your treatment. Once you dip your dog, don't dry the dog off, let him dry naturally. Try not to miss any areas on the dog with the dip. You can put mineral oil in the dog's eyes and then the dip won't burn. Once all that is finished, open up your house to let it air out for a little while, and that should do it for you. The fleas inside were either brought in on our shoes or by your pets. So keep them controlled outside and on your pet, and you shouldn't have this problem again. Best of luck to you.

We had fleas very bad and no matter what we tried, for three weeks straight, they would chew our legs even more. Go buy 3-4 (26 OZ.) Morton Iodized Salt containers. Vacuum the carpets and throw away the bag. Then sprinkle the salt on the floor and leave for one week, then vacuum. The fleas will eat the salt and bust. We have not had any fleas since

I have a housecat that recently had fleas and I will pass on to you what the vet told me. He said to use Frontline or a similar flea/tick repellant. Once all of the animals in your household have been treated, after a while the life cycle of the flea will be broken as they will not have anything to feed off of or "flea dirt" in which to lay their eggs and they will die off. It is important to treat the animal as often as directed in order to kill existing fleas and prevent new ones.
The vet told me that the fleas should not pose much, if any, problems to the humans in the house as long as they bathe on a daily basis, but suggested washing all of the bed linens and thouroughly cleaning any areas where the pets like to lay. I would imagine that steam cleaning the carpet would take care of any fleas there. Hope this helps!

Bug bombs will not get rid of fleas; the eggs and especially pupae are completely unaffected. You need flea treatment for the animals and area treatments for the house. Products with both insecticide and IGR (insect growth regulator) are more effective than those with insecticide alone. Your vet should be able to provide better details and product suggestions.

You should use a topical treatment such as frontline or advantage to kill the fleas on the cats. Then sprinkle boric acid on your rugs, floors and furniture. It will kill the fleas and any other insects, but will not affect your animals or any people. You can get the boric acid at any hardware store.

Make sure you get an insect growth regulator (IGR) if you want something with reisdual, lasting effects. You will probably need to contact a pest control company if your problems are severe. Y
