I have asked myself the same question. My guess is that a lot of these people are just parroting their religious leaders. I know many people who are religious and secular who believe that abortion is wrong, but the secular friends were the only one's who actually adopted. I couldn't understand why so I did a little investigating. I asked everyone i knew who was against abortion and simply asked them if they would ever adopt a child. The one's who already did adopt I just asked them why. The one's who didn't adopt and were religious told me a variety of answers. The general consensus was that adoption was either unnecessary because they could have their own children or they just really never thought about it. The secular friends either said the same thing or said they couldn't affor it. The secular friends who had adopted said that they wanted to make a better world for their children or they were doing it to stop someone they new from aborting achild.

Abortion is an insult agaist ourselves unnatural and wrong. Adoption is wonderful if you can afford it and are nearly perfect ,very expensive. They have an silly age limit of say 25 to 30 to be on a list to adopt. It is cheaper to have your own if you can. If it were possible I would adopt lots of kids, they are wonderful valuable and deserve life and love, hope that helps. ~A~
"Life is a Gift not to be wasted
abortion wastes lives and
says to our children
Life is nothing special,
so ending one is no big deal"

Just b/c people say it's wrong doesn't mean they are hypocrites. Maybe the satisfaction of having your own child is greater then paying for someone else's mistake. There is nothing wrong with adopted children though. My best friend is adopted. My point is, people need to be more responsible with thier sexual activities.
Killing babies is murder. They are humans too.

Alot of times, it is the money. Do you realize how expensive adoption can bee (several thousand dollars!!!) If the states would make more consessions, people who would love to adopt children could. In my case, if we adopted, there would be no money to give the kid a good life. It is six dozen of one, and half a dozen of the other. They need to make the adoption process less expensive, and easier...these poor kids need homes.

Good question and one I've asked myself sometimes, especially since I went to a Catholic school. Put your money where your mouth is, folks. My husband is adopted and so is my best friend. Their parents put their money where their mouths were and raised beautiful children they don't feel any different about than if they'd given physical birth.

Because they are hypocrites. These are also the people who believe that there shouldn't be welfare, but don't explain how a single mother is going to be able to get a job and pay for babysitting. It's easy to point a finger and judge people, but much more difficult to take action and help people.

Because people just look in the Bible for answers [about abortion]. And the Bible does not have anything [that I have been able to find] on adoption.
People are hypocites.

they take the "life is precious" thing a little too far. having unplanned children, while immoral, has ruined people's lives. other's do not see the effects on the mother, only the life taken.
