I'm talking about the first weeks when you're eating cream soups and such. Would like to know how much you felt comfortable consuming. Also, anyone else have no appetite and no sign of fullness? I'm one week out of surgery and feeling fine.

To clarify, I am imformed about all I need to be informed about, and am following my doctor's directions loyally. What I'm asking is directed to those who have had the experience and understand that at the beginning there's a period of no appetite and no ability to sense fullness. In that case, wondering how they determined when to stop eating. For those of you not post-op, it won't pertain to you...but thanks just the same.

I had the surgery almost 3 years ago. When I first came home I ate about two tablespoons of food three times a day and that was it. In between meals I made sure I sipped water and Gatorade diluted with water. I never felt hungry or full for the first two months. After about 3 months I could finally eat almost one small hard boiled egg at breakfast. I tried to stay with softer foods with high protein. Cottage cheese, yorgurts, cheeses, tuna...you just have to make sure whatever you eat you chew, chew, and some more. Just take it slow and don't rush it. Now I can eat about 2 cups of food per meal. I do snack in between meals occassionally. The only time I "feel" hungry is when I exercise. I think I just burn it off so fast.

Good luck and feel free to email me if you need to chat.

That's up to your doctor on what you should and shouldn't eat.
