The night before my puppy was sick and was throwing up, so the next morning i took her to the vet. The vet said everything was fine that she just had an upper respitory infection and i bought her antibiotics. The next day she wasn't getting any better she was just lying down all day. That night she cried like she was having pain in her stomach and she was slowly getting stiff. I was going to take her back to the vet but she died that night. How could the vet say she was okay but she died the next day? What do you think could have happened? The poor dog suffered all night till she died:(

Your vet made an error in diagnosis. The exact diagnosis can only be determined by an autopsy. Rest is just best guesses. Now you need to understand that diagnosing something is a very difficult and imperfect art. There is no way to ensure that a proper diagnosis will be reached every time. I am sure the vet did his best and in most cases he would have been right. It was unfortunate that your dog died. I hope you feel better soon. The dog's pain is no more and you did all you could have.

If the puppy was young and hadn't had all it's shots yet, also with the throwing up and not eating, sounds like it could have been Parvo Virus. Very nasty virus affecting a dog's intestinal tract. It causes upset stomach and dehydration. A dog can literally dehydrate to death and in a matter of 1 day to several days. In the future, I would pick a new vet. Doesn't sound like this one did a proper examination.

Obviously the dog was much more sick than anyone knew. I am really sorry about the poor puppy. I know how hard it can be to lose someone/a pet you love. Maybe you'll never know what the real problem was, I hope it wasn't Parvo or something like that. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. God Bless

Please accept my condolences on your loss. It must be very heartbreaking to have done everything you could, and still lose this little one.

There are just so many things that might be the cause, but my guess is that either an intestinal infection could had progressed too far and too quickly that such a young animal just didn't have the ability to overcome, or perhaps there may have been digestive problems since birth.

You gave love, security, and care in your short time together, and though it may be just a small comfort, I hope you may find some peace of mind and heart in that thought.

I'm really sorry your puppy died. She may have had Parvo. You should consult with a vet (maybe a different one) to see if there's any way that you can determine what was wrong with your puppy. This is really important, because if she had Parvo, you shouldn't bring a young dog into your house for at least two years.

Wow...this kind of thing happened to me before. My cat kept throwing up and would not eat or drink for days, and the vet had given us medication that just made things worse she was an old cat and we were sure that she was going to die! My mom ordered a shot of Steroids from the vet right before she would have died and we had to give it to her ourselves. The vet just did not seem to care much. After we had given her the shot she started eating immediately...and amazingly she is still alive!

Sorry about your puppy, its always so sad to loose a pet.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so difficult to lose a pet. I think you should ask the vet what could have happened. Unfortunately it's difficult to diagnose animals, because they can't answer questions about what's bothering them. The vet should have told you that if the dog didn't get better, you could bring it in. It's possible that the dog was allergic to the antibiotics. I know my dog is allergic to vaccines, and had to have a shot of epinephrine to get her heart started when she got her rabies shot.

It could have been something called fading puppy syndrome or there was some very bad congenital defect. Unless your veterinarian , took blood , did x-rays etc , even then something might never have shown up. I am sorry for your loss though. You could ask for an autopsy but even that can be inconclusive. Did you ask your vet?

i think you should really look into finding out why the vet said that. now, you know that's wrong on the vet's part don't you?
