Anyone have problems with the hood on their Explorer/Mountaineer (2002) not staying up when open?
Is there a recall for those struts? I almost lost a hand when it fell on it when I opened the hood!

No recalls that I know of, Replace both struts. Not the best design, and its not the worse either. LOL

Hood struts wear out faster when you take the hood and pull it down fast.
Ford has no recalls on those struts. Over time things wear out.

No recalls on Hood struts .. Only back glass that I am aware of that year...

But like any thing that uses lift shocks.. a poor design choice but what can you do.. just replace them... all car makers have them..
