I'm not in this position. Whenever peeps ask Qs they alwayz assume that the person is in that position :s (N) Have you ever had to explain that you had a 1 night stand w/ a guy ? How bout a stranger ? What would you tell your baby (unless you had an abortion) bout who his/her dad was & why he wasn't in the picture ? Cuz that'd be kinda like, "Oh I just thought he was cute & we couldn't help ourselves" kinda thing.

If I knew who he was or how to find him I would tell him. A man has a right to know if he has a child, even if he doesn't want to be part of it's life. I would also pursue child support at a legal level, before I lost all touch with him. I would give him the chance to be a father to the child, even if I didn't necessarily want to be with him or he turned out to be married or something.
I would tell the truth to my child about the father in a gentle, age appropriate way, not lie or make him into some myth.
I have had a couple of one night stands with guys I've met in bars. I've never felt the need to explain it to anyone. I was single at the time, so it wasn't cheating (on my part). It was a decision I made in the moment and I try not to live my life with regrets.

Put it this way, my fiance cheated on me, put me out of our apartment when I was 3 months pregnant and I never looked back. He might or might not know I have since had his son, I thought he did now I'm not so sure. What do I plan to tell my son? I had planned on telling him something along the lines of "Sometimes people hurt other people, and we don't know why." But then I changed my mind. When he gets older, I don't know what I'll tell. Maybe one day I'll even let his father see him, fat chance, but you never know. I don't want, or need anything from him, but just in case I ever do, I keep his ss# on hand and memorized. Just in case.
And I love how everybody is telling you not to breed, even though you just said you weren't in this situation, lol.

I would put likely put the child up for adoption,
I would only contact the father if I needed him to do something in regards to the adoption.
I also would be far more careful next time,
because pregnant is the easiest things to get in a one night stand...
a disease would be far worse.

No I wouldn't contact him. It was a ONE night stand, regardless of what happened. The person obviously wasn't too worried about being pregnant or using birth control and didn't talk to the guy about it. Abortion is out of the question, you knew what was happening, that DOES NOT make it right to kill a baby, er.. fetus. :(

Yes I would tell everyone the guy and the kid. No matter what. You should really know the person before anything and shouldn't have a one night stand anyway...sex is for marriage period.

you could out of courtesy tell the boy, however, I believe that a woman has the ultimate choice. As far as keeping the baby & not asking who his/her is, is pretty common.. that should all be deciding factors when the woman makes her choice.

nicely you positive do sound needy and obsessive, so I doubt you gained't come off that thanks to him. in simple terms ask him out on a date and enable issues bypass from there. even if if he hasn't already called you later on, he probably realized you're purely good for infrequent sex.
