aperitif (ah-pear-uh-TEEF) - A French term for an alcoholic beverage served before a meal as an appetizer to stimulate the appetite. It can be a punch made to complement the meal, but it is usually a white wine, sherry, champagne, or a sparkling wine. It can also be non-alcoholic.

I do not consider a beverage as an appetizer, however, water (H2O) is a good way to suppress ones appetite.

There are just as many Aperitifs as there are wrong answers to this question. Sherry, Pernod and Vermouth are probably the most common. Ouzo is still my favorite though.

I think you meant aperitiff. Try Lillet white, DuBonnet white, or Champagne.
