First of all, this is nothing new. Unless the Qur'an is new. This is not what separates the Christians from the Muslims.
Quoting Jewish and/or Christian scriptures does not make a Islam acceptable for the Jews or the Christians. It is not a question of the prophet's before Muhammad, but of Muhammad himself. This should be a believers choice independent of the political situations.
Unlike Jesus, Muhammad is a political leader as well as a religious leader. Because of this, Islam has an element of political concern. To the extent that Islam has been used to support terrorist.
It strange how you view western governments and western religions. Western governments do not necessarily follow their respective religions, but in your mind, they are the same because they are the same in Islam.
Here is an observation: Political control has nothing to do with Western religion. However, if an Islamic government changes, it is an attack against Islam. I guess your prophet represented a cheap "God" who is limited to earthly territory.

Islam also denies the deity of Jesus Christ. The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, & the Christains call the Christ the Son of Allah... Allah'scurse be on them; how they are deluded from the Truth!
Surah 9:30. Islam doesn't only deny Christ the son of God, but places a curse on all who confess He is. Also makes Christ lower then Muhammed.
Who is Allah? The name Allah comes from an Arabic word that had to do with the wor-ship of the moon god in pre-Islamic Arabia. Alah is not the same God of Abraham,Isaac, and Jacob

You have to remember that Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, directly sent from God, to die on the cross, so that He overcame death, the last enemy to be destroyed. and opened up the gateway to Heaven, so that now we can ask for forgiveness of sins, in Christ's name as He makes intercession for us. As for Mary, she found favour in God's eyes, but she had other children beside OUr Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. James was his brother. Jesus our Lord was begotten not born.
