I'm waiting on the delivery of my new car, which is late. Because it's late it's going to be closer to the September 1st "56" registration start date than i'd like (what's the point of driving around an 06 when the 56 is coming out the week after!) Is there any way to get the car on 56 plates from the dealer before september 1st or will I have to wait until september 1st? Can they get the plates and then register it after, I'm not sure how it works to be honest.

On occasion I have seen early regs out on the courtyard, like an 06 in february for example, but I'm not sure if it was allowed on the road. Help me out please.

BTW no countryism (lol) intended but I'd like an answer I could use, so if you're from somewhere other than the UK and you have no idea what I'm talking about, kindly ignore this question.

You will have to wait. if its only a week, just wait.

Tell the dealer you want the 56 reg, and he will get the car delivered in Spetember. You cant have it before with the 56 reg no. if you have it before, you will have to have the 06 reg no.

They can get it before sep 1st with the 56 plate, but you will have to wait til the 1st to collect it.

Even the car dealers are not allowed to drive the plates around earlier, they have to use a trade plate.

The reason you see them on the forecourt at the dealer is because they get the cars delivered before the big day when the new cars come out. Everone who buys a car in march or september wants to pick it up on the first, so they can drive it round with their new number plate.

Its a bit 'look at me, ive got a brand new car today'

Personally I think its a bit pointless, but about 90% of people want it on the 1st.

Just have a bit of patience, but make sure you let the sales guy know, so he holds off registering it.

you wont be able to have it on the road until 1st september i'm afraid.
check with your dealer if they have registered your car yet, because if they have you have no choice but to have 06 plate.

the registration number is generated/allocated by the dvla to the dealer then they make the plates up.

if you want it to be a 56 plate get onto the dealer straight away to discuss your options before they register it.

If you are having a "56" plate, you will not be insured till September 1st to drive the car. You can, if the dealer is willing, to collect your car at midnight.

My cousin had the same difficulty w/ her boyfriend. He had a strong interest for a lengthy time period & then purely give up it w/o consulting w/ her. His excuse for no longer keeping the secure interest became due him searching petty themes w/ a job & purely leaving it w/o something else lined up. It became a large stress on my cousin b/c no longer in ordinary words did she ought to help herself & her baby yet now a grown guy. Their courting began to break down from there and were given so undesirable that petty such issues as leaving the cap off of toothpaste sparked large arguments. Now he has yet another strong interest and has all started decrease back assisting w/ expenditures regardless of the indisputable fact that the courting is so damaged that she's getting her personal position this three hundred and sixty 5 days & he's actual salty. Hate to say it yet you also must be extra perfect off getting your own position for a lengthy time period. i'm no longer keeping he's acceptable for ending the courting yet understand the stress & stress it has placed on him also. If y'all intend on being at the same time for a lengthy time period do not ignore that funds will stress the courting & that y'all ought to artwork by potential of the complicated circumstances with the intention to maintain. If he would not get it now then he will be doing the same to his spouse faster or later. that's definately no longer an difficulty absolutely everyone needs to deal w/ regardless which fringe of the difficulty you're on. strong success.
