How would one define an organic, natural, and artificial flavorings and why do they no possess a caloric value

Flavorings are either highly refined extracts of natural products or something produced in a chemistry lab that stimulates the same neural receptors as the natural product. The reason that there is almost never an assigned caloric value is mostly due to the incredibly minuscule portion size that most flavorings are measured in.

It is not the food that gives flavor but your brain gives an idea of what it might taste like and then it processes iformation which then appear in your mouth as a delisious food or nasty stuff.
