I've read that when a person is trying to lose weight, the best way to go about it is to eat several small meals throughout the day, in order to speed up their metabolism, so i started eating a little something every 2-4 hours. At first, it was hard to get used to doing that, but now, I'm just constantly hungry. I try to eat two regular meals, and small, healthful snacks every 2-3 hours between them, or just whenever i feel the need...or whatever. now, i'm always hungry. even if i eat a good sized meal, i'm totally ready to eat again within about two hours. is this okay? did my metabolism speed up, like i wanted it to, or has something gone wrong with my thyroid? i haven't lost any weight...

it's not a HUGE deal, or anything, i'm just curious.

also - i exercise in the mornings...would this make a difference?

Nice advice Angels_and_a - does that mean Loree O and I should also get a life?

Allyson it is normal. I have been working out for 11 years and I have to eat every 1 1/2-2 hours. Sometimes I think its a pain having to eat so often and I bet all your co-workers tease you with all your bags of food on Monday's. They tease me. Besides raising your metabolism, it is better for your digestive system. Protein DOES NOT keep you fuller. Its carbs that do. If your goal is to lose weight and you eat late at night, try not to eat after 7:00 pm. It helped me! But if you are totally starving at bed time, have a spoonful of peanut butter or some mixed nuts.

Yes, working out in the mornings will make a big difference. First of all if you are wanting to lose weight, cardio is what you should be doing. Anything that makes you move and sweat for at least 30 minutes. Aerobics, treadmill, kickboxing, tae bo, this burns fat.
If you're eating a good breakfast, with a snack in between breakfast and lunch, eat a good lunch, a snack in between lunch and dinner. Your breakfast and lunch should be the biggest meals, and dinner the lightest. You will burn off all that you eat during the day, if it isn't too much, and whatever you eat at night kind of sits there for awhile, because we slow down at night.
Remember it's what you're eating that's important. Your input has to be less than your output to lose. When you work out, work out hard and you will see results, be careful of the amount of calories you're taking in.
Limit these things to once a week only: cheeses, sodas, fried foods, fast foods, sugary treats. Discipline yourself 6 days a week and give yourself one day a week to eat what you want to. Make it a fun thing! Work hard!

if you are working out, you are heading in the right direction. Try having snacks with a higher protien content, that will help you stay feeling full for longer.

i know how you feel. maybe your just bored or maybe you should eat regular meals and exercise more but don't hurt your self. or maybe your body isn't used to your style of diet. and you know, when you grow your fat grows with you. Try either a new diet or go back to your regular routine and limit your snack foo. how you ask? keep your mind off of food by playing or going on the computer and only eat when you feel like your going to puke. I'm not saying starve yourself just slow down and have one snack a day.
