howz about you went round your boyfriends for a slap up meal which you enjoyed no end until you found out he had put garlic in the main course which you are allergic to and makes you violently ill for 3 days straight - there thats believable!!
or you ve been up the hospital all night with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. I actually know someone who used this one and it worked!

Call early and say that your hot water heater started flooding your house late last night and you have to wait for the plumber and clean up people today. This also gets you a possible second day or afternoon of playing hooky to meet the insurance adjuster or some such person. This way, if you go out to dinner later and run into your boss you aren't caught in a lie like if said you were sick. "Yeah, plumber left about 3:30 - what a mess." Just don't forget if someone asks you in a week or two how your cleanup is going.

Kinda EVIL....but you could say your friend was in an accident and you have spent the night in the hospital with them....and have just stepped outside to make a call on your cellphone and are going right back inside until they regain conciousness....and oh by the way, they won't let you leave the cell phone on in the hospital so you will be out of touch.....

Really, I have found that calling in first thing while your voice is still scratchy and telling the boss that you just spent all night vomiting is the most believable excuse...

Wife got mad. Handcuffed you to bed, and left you alone in the house. She took the handcuff keys with her. Thank God you have voice dialing on cell phone. Locksmith is on the way, but said it may be several hours before he can be there to get you free.

make a quick call to the big boss saying.,somebody important in your family died, u have to respond for few days u will be away. thats even more days to chill off work.
