Christianity is the only religion that acknowledges that we - mankind - cannot do a single thing for our own salvation. No amount of good works or sacrifices or worshipping will ever help us out. Jesus died for our sins and that's a gift we can either choose to accept or reject, but it is only through his grace that we can be saved.

Anybody and everybody can be saved, and we don't have to follow rituals or be of a certain background or have so much or be able to do this or possess a certain social status...all of the other religions I know of have some stipulation(s) for salvation, that we are supposed to do ourselves. Christianity doesn't have that. Just saving grace...in that respect, I suppose there is one thing that we have to do ourselves, and that's let Jesus be our Saviour. But aside from that, we can't do a thing, which means all of us are truly equal (but in the end, not all of us will remain equal)...

This is a very good question. I never really thought about one religion being better or worse than another. So....I looked up the word religion in the dictionary to try to get a good understanding of exactly what the word religion meant. I found two definition i liked very much FIRST ONE a set of beliefs, values and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader......SECOND ONE.....belief in the reverence of a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. I am a christian women, have been for many years...I don't know a whole lot about other peoples religion, I know some don't celebrate any holidays, don't eat pork, don't believe in a fiery hell and don't believe Jesus is the Son of God and some just believe Jesus was a good man or a prophet. I can tell you this....I can't say everything I have been taught about my religion is 100% correct ......I do believe with all my heart there is only one thing you have to know and it is THIS.....There is only one way into Heaven and that is to believe that Jesus was the Son of God, that He died on the cross for our sins, He rose again on the third day and to ask God to forgive us of our sins and let him into our hearts...and live the best life we can and do unto others as we would have them do unto us and that is the way i have always tried to live....ella

I am a Pagan.
I don't believe my religion is better than the rest, but I like that my religion does not discriminate against homosexuality, does not run around seeking converts, does not wage war on countries that don't do what we want them to do, is more considerate towards the environment than many others, does not threaten non pagans with an imaginary furnace, does not frighten little children with threats of what will happen to them if they don't join our club.
We are a lot more open minded than most religions, we do a lot more research into other religions than most and are generally a lot more tolerant.

Anyone who says their religion is the best, is very much misrepresenting their religion. Most people say that because it's their egos talking, not common sense. Whether it's religion or sports or our jobs or our kids or whatever, if I'M doing it, it's the best. Anyway, most religions are the best for that person, and it may not be the best for another person. It's pretty relative. Different religions satisfy different people and their desires. Some religions are alot deeper than others. Some are based more on intellect, and some are based more on sentiment. Whether there are any religions based on fact...I wonder about sometimes. You need to do your own research, and find what's best for you.

Half the people up here didn't even bother to answer. I don't know if I have a real answer for you either, but I have a theory, so I hope it helps.
I notice that most people like to point out blame at others, turning a blind eye on their own sin, and it's easier to say "Well my religion says it's wrong and if you don't' believe in it, then you're going hell!" It's easier to say that, than to own up to what your doing wrong. More so, it's easier to claim your religion is the one true religion, than to actually answer any questions with a valid answer that PROVES why your one religion is better than anybody else's.

I don’t think my religion is better than anyone else’s. I think that all religions have their good point and their bad points. The thing that makes me feel like my religion is more “advanced,” maybe, is that we don’t feel others are wrong in their beliefs. I may seam confrontational at times, but I only try to get others to think for themselves. Don’t assume that everything you’ve been told is right, & don’t be afraid to explore the other possibilities of the universe.

People believe that their own religion is right out of a need for validation. They need to have something to lean on when things aren't going their way. They need something to pray to so that they feel that there is some control in the universe. And these people wouldn't want to think that what they believe is wrong, so they are forceful and even militant with forcing their views on others. You see, if they can convert the masses, they will be reassuring themselves that what they believe is right, I mean, if millions of others believe it it can't be wrong, right?

Just the facts, huh? Well, my religion believes in modern day revelation from God. That He does not change. That He once spoke to prophets and, just as before, He does so now. How does He pick that person? That person must have authority from God to receive revelation (just as a cop must have authority from the state to give a ticket, etc.) and do works in His name. My religion has that authority. Our church is organized upon Christ as our leader, leading us through prophets and apostles being guided directly by Him. Thus, the world today can benefit from a modern day prophet, if they would only accept that God has restored the gospel today, and that He still speaks to us through His prophets. The church I speak of is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

With the virtually unlimited number of "religions" in the world the, and number of reasons being directly related to which religion is being compared to, number of reasons are like the grains of sand on a beach. Can you narrow the field some? Having said that, the number one difference between my faith (Christian) and a religion is that my faith is in Jesus Christ who died and arose three days later as himself, scars and all. Not Buddha, Bale, Apollo, Thor, Charles Manson or anyone else did that.

1st off, I don't believe that any in particular religion is BETTER than another.. It's all up to the specific individual..... I am Pagan and my religion dates back before Christ was even on earth... Like 1400 B.C., and I don't hold it against the Catholics/ Christians that they killed my people, and basically stole my beliefs... I have pity for them, but no...the one true religion is the one you truly believe in... And that is the best one...
