Why in the world are you letting your dogs breed? Besides the health benefits of spaying and neutering there is the gross pet overpopulation problem. Millions of dogs are killed every year because there is not enough homes for all the dogs born. Did you know there are 15 dogs born for every 1 human born? For all the dogs to get a home every person would have to own 15 dogs. Person, not family. A family of four would have to own 60 dogs. Why do you want to contribute to that huge number of dead dogs?

That's how they mate! It's called a tie! When the male penetrates the female, the penis swells inside her and he releases sperm into her vagina. She will become pregnant and will be having puppies in 58-63 days, from the first tie. If you see it, do not try to seperate them, because you will do damage to both dogs. They will release on their own, when they are ready. If you are thinking about breeding, PLEASE DON'T!!! Get your dog or dogs fixed! If you are asking questions like these, and you don't know what you are doing, you are going to have major problems.

It's an anatomy thing. The male's penis swells at the base to a point where it won't come out of her. This is to insure proper placement of sperm and to guard against other males mating with her too soon and dislodging his sperm. After awhile the erection will subside and they'll pull apart. As for the tail thing, that's just kinky puppies ;),

It is the natural way of dogs tying. Do not under any circumstances try to separate them as this can cause permanent damage to both. Just make sure that they are kept quiet until they calm down, this can take about twenty minutes depending on the breed, size etc.

Dogs always stick in this manner. I don't really know why they stick butt to butt. I does look quite weird. Count 63 days on you calendar from the day you saw them stuck and within a day or two from that date, you will have puppies. Don't let them stick too many times because she may end up fertilizing too many eggs and have too many pups to take care of.

No, they did it right but according to my vet, they "get stuck" because his penis won't relax enough to come out so they may stay that way for awhile. Once he relaxes, they'll come apart. They do it normal, but once they're done, they try to get apart and can't, that's why it looks like they did it backwards. My basset hounds are also breeding right now so I know what you mean. Good luck

The head of a dogs penis actually grows in size and basicly locks them together. Untill it subsides they can't pull apart.

your dog gets stuck b/c its natural the dog has a knot that grows inside the female. its like getting an erection. the dog has a very flex able sheath so they can bend and it is very common for them to do so b/c it takes a while for the knot to shrink.

it's because when the male dog release his stuff in the female his penis enlarges so that all of it will stay in the female. and his penis can be turn any way but i forgot why that happens.
