I am from Lawton, OK. My neighbor has 3 dogs which I feel are being neglected. I have seen them kick the dogs. The dogs get out everyday. I am an animal lover. It kills me because I cant do much about it. I have called the animal welfare, police, neighborhood services, and still nothing. The oldest dog is a female pitbull and she is a very good dog. She is not aggressive, with people or other dogs. The other 2 are younger male pitbulls. One of them needs serious medical attention. He is almost completely bald, covered with scabs. I give them water everyday. I would have already taken them if I didnt have 3 dogs of my own. If anyone is from this area, the address where the dogs are is 2513 sw 'I' ave.

call the humane soceity or the police. They have special animal police that can inspect the premises and see the dogs or serve a search warrant.
The animals can be removed from the home and taken care of and later on adopted or found new homes.

It is wonderful that you have such a big heart - and your perseverance will be the make or break for these dogs.
People like that should not have the privilege of owning a dog - however it is still NOT COOL to give out others addresses on the Internet.
Take pictures of the animals if you can, if you have a video camera try to record the abuse.
The good thing about a video camera is you can zoom in on the baldness and scabies, also if you can "catch them in the act" of kicking and such that would be a nail in their coffin.
I know it will be hard - but one day don't give them water - just use a video camera to record how long they are there without water from the owners.
The proof will be on the tape(s) and it will help the SPCA, Humane Society, Police Dept. build a case against them.
It's good people like you who care enough to get involved that will keep those dogs alive.
Good luck!

I find it very hard to believe that the local animal welfare shelter will not do anything about a reported case of neglect. (Where's the Animal Cops show when you need them?) The local police don't usually get involved in animal cruelty/neglect cases unless your animal welfare unit calls them in. Here in NY, our SPCA officers have full arrest powers, so they don't need to contact the police to help them. I would contact an SPCA near your home if the animal welfare agency won't help. Some SPCA's have a wide jurisdiction and may be able to do something about these poor animals. And if they can't come and get the animals, maybe they can make a call for you or point you in the right direction.
Also, I don't think it's a good idea to post your neighbor's address on a public web-site, they could get you in trouble for that. Even if they are losers who abuse their animals.

First thing is i want to tell you that I think you are doing the right thing by trying to get these poor dogs some help.
All I can tell you is to call again to your local humane society or animal welfare organization and be as graphic and descriptive about the condition of these animals.
Last resort is if you don't get a response from those oragnizations is to phone your local news station and tell them about the animals and that you have been ignored by the humane society and want to get these neglected animals some help. Sometimes the local news will do those kind of stories.
I wish you luck.

Unfortunately in Ohio there isnt a whole lot you can do unless the dogs are on your property. I am not sure about OK. As long as they are not skin over bones animal control will not step in unless they personally see them beating the dogs or putting the dogs in serious danger. And with them being pit bulls, if you give them to animal control they will usually put them to sleep. Sadly they are probably in the best hands where they are.
Slip them treats when you can. And talk to your neighbors about it.

If your local animal control and humane societies are not doing anything, which is really hard to believe, then call your local tv news or local newspaper and ask to speak to a reporter.

try contacting a local newpaper or tv station if the animal welfare will not do their job and see if they would run a story on WHY these people making a living off tax dollars are not doing what they are paid to do

Walk over, ring the neighbor's doorbell. Wait for them to come to the door, and then ask them, "Why do you treat your dogs like that?" And right as they start to answer you, take 11.5 steps back and run full blast and kick them right in the crotch. That should teach them to respect animals better.

I would call and call and call and call until SOMEONE got sick of it. The Humane Society usually responds well. Try the police, again and again and or the news channel. You're a good person. Good Luck and thanks for helping the dogs.
