...if you're at a friend's house watching a horror movie, and you're so frightened that you bite your nails--and I mean really gnaw on them-- so much that you've got a mouthfull of pieces of your nails?
What's the most polite thing to do? And assuming you swallow, what do you say when your friend offers you food, but you're full from your "meal" so as to sound polite?

And for the same reason...
To answer what we thought your inquiry was really asking...
And to view everyone else's answers...
However to answer this inquiry...
I would very discreetly spit the nail tips in my empty glass and then toss it out in the kitchen trash...
Because one of the Ladies above here was in the washroom getting rid of her nail tips,and so the washroom was unavailable to me...
And if all of these Ladies were in the washroom at once disposing of said nail-tips...
And the kitchen was out of the question...
Or i just had to sit there for any reason at all...
I would ask in a choked up voice from the nails...
Hey,Got any dip for these tips,i mean chips?...

Hold your index finger up in a "just a minute" gesture and dash to the bathroom. Spit the nails into the toilet and flush. Return to your seat.

Well, after careful research via yahoo!'s "search the Web" feature, I've discovered it is always better to swallow. It's not polite to spit.

excuse yourself to the restroom
and spit everything out.
if you don't want to excuse yourself
then just dont accept the food that your host offers you
its not like its going to offend them.
