I have a 6month old dog named Charlie, but he is starting to get annoying. He chews everything in sight and I don't know what to do. I have twoother dogs Luckey and Sasha and they never did anything like this, and neither did my dog Tex who passed away a one or two years ago. I have no idea what to do with him, it seems that this problem is getting worse. He chews anything he can get and he can get stuff off tables now. He's chewed up slippers, stuffed animals, books, pens, paper, pencils, and much more. I feel if I don't do something quick he's going to chew something dangerous that could kill him or seriously get out. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another person here told me about Bitter Apple, a spray that you can buy to put on anything you don't want your dog to chew on. I don't remember seeing it in the pet store, but you can check or look online.

Nature's Miracle makes a similar product too, and I know pet stores carry that.

Yes, he will chew something dangerous. He needs to be trained to what CAN be chewed and what to leave alone. Make sure he has several things he is allowed to chew. One good thing is a kong you fill with treats. You have to be diligent. A dog is only as good as his training. When he picks up the wrong thing, tell him "no", take it and give him something he can chew. When he picks the right thing praise him.... a lot. Really make a show of how smart he is for picking the right thing. Also obedience classes would help him understand you are the boss.

It is called "teething" puppies lose thier baby teeth just like people do and you dog is at the age where he will want to chew everything. What you do is redirect his attention to things it is ok for him to chew...buy him lots of safe chew toys I reccomend Kongs and Nylabones and rope toys.....next time he is chewing something he isnt supposed to dont yell at or hit him just firmly say NO and replace your shoe or whatever he is chewing with a dog toy...repeat repeat repeat. I suggest also putting everything away when you are not home unplug all electrical cords and put them up high. Buy lots of different toys for him and ask the pet store staff to help you with choosing what toys are best for him I prefer Nylabones because they cant bite off large pieces and choke and my dog loved them when he was teething also kongs are indestructible and hollow so you can fill them with peanut butter or treats to keep his attention on it longer. Pretty soon he will learn what is Ok to chew and what is not ok to chew as long as you replace the wrong things with the right things every time.

The answer is, keep your dog in a area in which he can't reach any of the stuff you mentioned. Then start training all over again, to leave things, not to chew and etc. Every time you caught him chewing, make sure you make him realize that your not please and tell him off, no or whatever word you like to use. It's like training him all over again like he was 3 months old.

Why don't you get your dog some dog toys and rawhide chews? Chewing is instinctive for dogs - if he chews something that he's not supposed to - take it away from him with a sharp, stern "NO" and give him a toy or rawhide chew, give him a pet and let him chew away :)

Repeat process as needed - he'll learn

Your dog can be teething or just plain boredom as well. Give him chew bones play with him and ect. Getting him trained in a kennel is a good idea as well. Keeps him out of trouble when your not around to be watching him. GOOD LUCK!!!

Get your pup some chew toys and he will stop chewing everything in site. With toys of his own, he won't need to chew on other things. Every time he does, just scold him and show him his toys.

what u should do is for one you could try spaying stuff so when he chews it he will get a bad tast in his moulth, second maybe he is spolied. keep him in a cage or always be watching him. don't be afraid to say to him:NO, BAD DOG!!!! YOU DON'T CHEW STUFF. make your dog feel bad so he won't do it next time. like: don't give him treats put him in a cage when he does something bad do he will really know.
