It could be heart worm, or heart disease.
Both cause those symptoms. If she has been in a smoker's home, that would account for the same symptoms.
If it is her heart, that is quite inexpensive to help with daily medications.

Take her to your vet for a check up. Since it's been a few years since she was in a kennel then it is most likely not kennel cough. She might be just getting to the point where old dogs get and are ready to pass on.

Your dog can contract any canine disease and illness simply by walking outside, where a sick dog might have passed by. They can even catch fleas in a carpeted elevator when said flea jumps off an infected dog, to wait for a new host.
And so, your dog can have kennel cough. I take my dog to the vet for an annual checkup and dental cleaning. In NYC, it costs $700, and my 12-year-old dog is definitely worth it.

bordatella (aka kennel cough) is essentially a cold for dogs, that needs antibiotics. your dog does not have to be in a kennel to develop it. you should take your dog to a vet asap. this infection could spread and if you dog is elderly its immune system probably isn't 100%.

Have her seen by the veterinarian , the three first things that come to my mind are Bordetella(kennel cough) which can be contracted otherwise than a kennel, cardiac problems or neoplasia(cancer).

I assume she's never had allergies that made her cough before. IIt could be bacterial or viral pneumonia, or it could be her heart growing weak and not pumping blood as effectively. This could cause coughing. If she's overweight I would worry about her heart. She should be checked out by a vet. Good luck...

U should take her to a vet to give her a checkup to make sure your dog is okay. It may turn into something serious if u don't take care of it now. But it might also be because she's old, but it's not worth the risk!

Take her to the vet it could be a number of things. My dog had the same thing but she had cancer. If she does have cancer, its best to put her to sleep. Even though its hard, u dont want her to suffer.
