What's the male equivalent of "mistress"? In Spanish we call him "el sancho". What would you call him in English?

There really is no English equivalent - even the word mistress is not commonly used, except in books. Lover would probably be the best equivalent, although it does not convey the negative connotation that mistress does and it does not just apply to men who are cheating with married women. Anyone who is in a sexual relationship with another person can be called a lover. People don't use that word, either, very much - boyfriend or girlfriend is what people usually say. A married woman will often be said to have a boyfriend, and everybody understands what that means.
