Eye laser surger has become very effective over the years. You want to make sure that you go to a doctor that has lots of experience and a good reputation. Go in first for a consultation to see if you are a good candidtate.

A coworker of mine had it done and his vision came out better than 20/20. He was very sensitive to light on the first day but by the end of the weekend he was as good as new.

There are always pros and cons to anything dealing with medicine. Everyone is a little different. Laser eye surgery is alot better than it was say even 5 years ago. I've heard alot of good things about it, and only 1 bad thing....where a person's eye got infected. Supposedly the surgery is supposed to last like 20 or so years. I'm considering having it done myself, that way I don't have to wear glasses anymore. The price has gone down considerably since it was first started. I can remember when it was $5,000 per eye. Unfortunately, most insurance companies consider this surgery cosmetic and will not cover it on thier policies. Best of luck to you........

I had lasik in 2001 and I have not worn glasses since. I had worn them since I was 9 years old, and I had the surgery at 23. For me they worked well, and I knew others who had great results too. But lasik does not work for everyone, which is why you should schedule a free consultation with the surgeon. If you have severe asigmatism or other eye issues, you may not be able to have the procedure. And lasik does not last forever, and as you age, you may need glasses to read and drive just as most old folks do!
PROs: No more glasses when exercising. No more costly frames and lens to buy every year. Quick procedure, short recovery period. Just think of all the reasons you hate wearing glasses and then cancel them out!
CONs: Expensive procedure ($1000-$2000), not covered by insurance ususally. An uncomfortable (but quick) procedure. More light sensitivity for the first few months. Night vision is not as good as with glasses. Halo around lights. Does not last forever. As a surgery, it carries its own risks.

I have never spoken to someone that it did not work on. I have know at least 7 people I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe the older surgeries were not as effective, but I believe it's a proven technology now. Ask the laser surgery office your going to their statistics.

My sister and her husband both had the surgery with excellent results. Both of them wore glasses for around 40 years. They both say it was the best thing they ever did. No more glasses or contacts for either one of them.

Some think it's tremendous. Others report problems afterward. My ophthalmologist once told me that when I see HIM without glasses, it's a safe and sure procedure. He's still wearing them...

Yeah Lasix is a good idea and my teacher could actually see without glasses. It doesn't hurt though.
