I used to and I manage them now. There are many causes and you may have more than one. It took me over a year to figure them all out and that is the hard part. Here is what I found.
You may get migraines and stress headaches and sometimes the stress headache is extremely bad but this does not make it a migraine. You need to know the difference to treat them properly.
Stress headache - Pain is on whole head, usually generalized, with tension in the neck and shoulders, no sensitivity to light or nausea.
Migraine - Pain is often more intense around temples, eyes or 1 side of head, but may spread quickly to the whole head, light sensitivity and nausea often vomiting which may reduce the pain for a while.
Migraines are caused by:
Magnesium deficiency - More likely for women and around time of period. Eat a magnesium rich diet or use a dolomite or cal mag supplement starting about a week before your period and until it's over. Also the calcium helps a little with hormonal migraines.
Tyramine Sensitivity - An amino acid found in high amount is animal products, expecially meat that is not fresh or any unfresh food, rasberries and fermented products including tofu and miso. Eat only very fresh food and learn to avoid tyramine if you suspect this.
Hormonal - There is not much you can do about this one and may need medication. If it is hormonal you should not use hormonal birth control (pill/shot/patch) and get plenty of calcium in your diet.
If you get a migraine;
Turn off all lights, put something very cold around your head. Keep gel masks and head wraps in your freezer all the time. Get pain patches (like the icy hot patches) if you need to use that instead of a cold wrap. Take aspirin if you can if you don't have a script. Through up if you need to, don't try to prevent that with more medication. Drink ice water.
That additional information makes me suspect your eyes. You should have them checked.

I've had them since I was little. I always have them in the same eye (right), have severe pain that puts me to bed (there is never a middle ground with the pain severity of mine), I have sensitivity to light and sound.
I find I am most prone to them in times of extreme stress and before and during my period.
I find taking Naprocin helps a lot with the pain. It is available thru prescription only. It's like a much stronger form of Ibuprofen. You'll need to talk to your doctor.
Migraines run in families. My mother has had them her whole life.
I hope you get help with this. It can and does interfere with your life.

talk with your Dr. it could be something with your nervous system. keep record of how many migraines you get in one week. if you get more than 7 migraines in a week it is not normal and you need to see a neurologist.

my doctor gave me prescription meds to take at the first sign of a migraine (they work GREAT) and also recommended that i take a riboflavin supplement. i'm also supposed to learn how to relax and relieve stress, but i've been uptight and clenched since i was a kid, so old habits die hard. getting angry is my biggest migraine trigger, so i have to work very hard to keep calm.

Most of my migraines are due to stress. Get enough sleep and if you're in a stressful situation, do what you can to resolve it.
