It fried Hemingway's brain. IMHO it rates up there with Ouzo as things you might try once, but if you're sane you'll never go there again.

Absinthe is a killer.Edger Allen Poe was an Absinthe addict.
I believe I read some time ago absinthe, real Russian absinthe has microscopic worms or parasites that work there way into the brain and eventually start munching down causing madness.(Read Edger Allen)
From what I remember the "good stuff" will steal your sanity and leave you howling at the moon, before it kills you.And the American version of it tastes like licorice but doesn't have the punch of the real thing.Real absinthe is illegal in the United States.

Absinthe contains Wormwood...use for it's mysical properties for centuries
(Hallucinations) many claim. Not really a "buzz" but an altered mind state
Be careful with Absinthe.....pre ban Absinthe can be deadly if over consumed.
I live in Germany where it is still legal, and indulge now and then....it is truly a different experience....Tastes like licorice and is drank by pouring over a sugar cube into water..drink the mix and enjoy

I really enjoyed drinking absinthe, it gave a nice, trippy haze to my evening . . .but it tastes horrible, like black liquorice.

It's awesome. One shot of that, and a few beers, and you'll have the best night of your life. Trust me. It's great.
