The answer is simple and painful. It rings hard back at people who call themselves Christians. Simply put it is hard to believe something when people claim it and don't practice the belief themselves. Christians don't have to look very far to understand that we are the reason many either don't believe or fall away. Why?
How can anyone believe in something when those who claim it don't follow it? Judge not and you won't be judged, condemn not and you won't be condemned, A good measure pressed down shake together will pore over in to your lap. We judge, we condemn and no good measure comes our way. For as you judge so will you be judged!! That stings.
We have held a measuring stick up to the rest of the world for so long and they turned it around on us. They found out something to. We don't measure up either. How could anyone believe that?
See our actions are judged everyday, and look at how we handle it. Not good, we tell people, you're going to hell. That is offensive to someone who thinks that they are basically a good person. There is no understand of why? And what example have we show them?? Not a good one.
Simply put the fault is our own. We talk a good talk but we sure don't walk it. If we did do you think we might just be a little more believable?

There is much historical documentation of Jesus' existence, and I don't think anyone has ever questioned that. I think the question for many is whether or not Jesus was the Messiah. I have a friend who is an Orthodox Jew and he does not believe Jesus was the Messiah because according to their teachings the Messiah is supposed to help bring about world peace ~ clearly, that has not happened. There are many different religions ~ and even within the Christian denominations ~ with vastly different interpretations of the Bible.

What are you smoking?? Too many people in America believe this crap - that is the problem!
One person who proves the Bible wrong.....hmmmmm..... ok....lets see.... Issaac Newton made the Bible look wrong. So did Einstein. Oh yeah, and I can prove it wrong too...just look at the logistical difficulties of trying to jam every species on earth into a boat that measures barely the size of a football field....not to mention how to stop the natural enemies from preying on one another, feeding and cleaning up after these animals.....just look at a modern zoo, and wonder how Noah did all that with only his wife and kids around..... For that matter, I could also inform you that in the oldest surviving copy of that Book you reference as being the only TRUE book in the world - that thing you call the Bible...in the oldest copy, the story of the whore to be stoned and Jesus saying he without sin cast the first stone......DOESNT EXIST IN THE BOOK IN ITS OLDEST FORM. That PROVES that the Bible has beeen rewritten by mortal men, not by GOD, as you morons claim.

Most Americans are christian....just look around you...see all the churches?
1) Jesus probably existed but there were also many other messiahs walking around at the time.
2) Although I personally have proven to myself that the bible is nothing more than the work of man, it is not my responsibility to prove the bible wrong to you nor do I really care to do so.
3) There are many religious beliefs in the world...I find it rather narrow minded for a person from any one of them to ask why others don't follow their religion.

Most Americans do believe in Jesus, but for those that don't, they most likely have come across information that may suggest that Jesus never lived, or that if he did, the Bible is not accurate. Too many people take the Bible to be the literal truth, when, in fact, it was meant to be symbolically interpreted. On top of that, certain scientific facts disprove portions of the Bible. You have to keep in mind that the Bible was not written by god. It was written by a bunch of monks who were human, and by no means perfect. They described Jesus' life as they saw it. They interpreted it - as they hoped we all would.

I so don't believe in Jesus. There is no actual proof that he did infact create the world of whatever. Tell me one person who proved the bible to be correct scientifically.
I don't believe anything that isn't scientifically proved.
Mind you, I am Christan, and I've gone through all of Sunday school. I never bought a word of that ****.
Oh yes, something else I forgot to add:
Who says jesus or god or whatever wrote the damn bible anyway? The bible was prob. created by a bunch of people that wanted to make up this whole 'jesus and god' concept, to trick people.

No one said that many americans do not believe in Jesus. As far as I know Christianity is the most common religion. There for many many americans believe in the Lord and Savior. For the people that say Jesus dosn't exist that is their choice and their religion. As far as proving that the bible is wrong...how do we even know its right in the first place?

Why do so many Americans believe in Jesus? For all you who are going to say jesus exists tell me 1 person who proved the bible right.
Oh - and you can prove there wasn't a world wide flood for a start.
What happened to the Unicorns and Satyrs? We can find dinosaur bones, intact mammoths but no unicorns?
Why do no contemporary writers mention a bloke going round raising the dead?

First of all, you need english lessons. Second, I believe you mean to say that people don't believe Jesus is our savior. Jesus existed, but what is disputed is whether or not he is the son of God and could preform miracles. Third, who said there are many Americans that don't believe in Jesus. I'm sure there are more people in America that belive in Jesus than other in other countries.

anyone with the knowledge to understand that a 600 year old Noah could not have built an ark and housed 2 of every living thing has come to take the bible with a grain of salt. A ship that size can not even be created with today's technology. The bible is a book of parables.
