Your assumption that athiests would leave Christians alone if they were in turn left alone has been proven false over and over again. There are just too many people on both sides of the issue that can't be content to live and let live. And while Christians have an excuse (to a certain degree) by their faith's call to evangelize, atheists (at least the one's that wear their non-belief on their sleeve) simply want to rub their perceived intellectual superiority in the face of believers.

I'll leave you alone, but I cannot accept the phrase 'religion does nothing but make things worse"
While it is fair to blame quite a bit of nasty stuff on religion, and if you wish, specifically christians (Neither the Crusades nor the Inquisition are particularly proud moments), you cannot discount the good that Christians do every day. Spiritual health aside, millions of poeple are fed each and every day thanks to the efforts of Christians, individual churches, and Christian and para-church organizations. Homeless pople are offered clothing and shelter. Old folks are cared for, visited, sheltered. Mothers in poverty are aided. The list goes on.
Such examples should cause you to rethink your opinion slightly. We may be wrong, we may be annoying, we may be goofy as all get out, but following the example of Christ, we do love our neighbours. We even - brace yourself - care about you. If you find Christians who don't, they're not.

As a Christian, I have no problem pointing out that I think you're right about the poor delivery a lot of Christians use for their message. I think a lot of them get confused. The Bible says to spread the good news of salvation to all the world, so that everyone may hear it. BUT, Jesus also made the statement (I'm paraphrasing) that if someone doesn't want to hear it, you can't spend your time trying to verbally beat it into them. I think we have an obligation to try and tell people, and if they don't want to hear it, we should say something to the effect of, "Okay. If you ever want to talk about, I'd be glad to talk with you.", and then, move on.

Don't you know that the best way to convert people is by berating and insulting them! Not to mention threatening them with hell? It's so inclusive and welcoming!
But on the other side of the coin, why can't those roving hoards of atheists let Christians believe whatever they want? I think there are probably two equal groups of fanatics espousing their own particular brand of "hate." And then there are the rest of us: baffled Christians and atheists, accepting that people might have opposing points of view but willing to live and let live, shaking our heads in dispair.
So for the atheists:
Don't you know that the best way to convert people is by berating and insulting them! Not to mention threatening them with nothingness? It's so inclusive and welcoming!

They aren't the brightest people as I'm sure you know. You are right, religion has caused many, many problems that include but are not limited too;
1. Wars
2. Sexism
3. Acceptance of slavery

Actually, as I read the stuff on here, it seems like the atheists are the ones who won't leave Christians alone.
It appears that YOU are the one who entered a 'Religion & Spirituality' site to post a message to the religious and spiritual people here, and addressed the Christians.
Surely you knew what you were doing. (?)

Not all christians feel the need to go around preaching to everyone they know. Some feel that God has called them to though.
However, if I'm not mistaken, other religions, such as mormons, are required to go on mission trips and go door to door when they finish their schooling at age 18.

Because christians are like that, they're annoying and just dont ever shut up. Muslims arent allowed to force, but these christians try and out thr blame on us, look :
"Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to God's will) in Islam. Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). (The Noble Quran, 15:2-3)"

Because the job God gave us is to try to bring others to Him. Believe it or not, He wants you to go to Heaven, too. And so do us as Christians. I'm not sorry.....wouldn't you rather live in paradise than hell? I know I would. And even if we were wrong, which we're not, wouldn't you rather believe and be wrong and go nowhere after death, than to not believe, and go to hell? Think about it. Again, I'm not sorry. This is my job, and since God sent His Son to die for my sins, this is the very least I can do for Him. And I or no one else is even worthy of this job. But I accept it and am grateful to have it. God Bless You!
