Limewire won't connect ever since I downloaded a critical windows update? How can I set it up so it connects?

I think its for protection since you can get viruses from downloads, but I want to get songs, anyone know why it won't connect? I hit connect and it says connecting, but never does.Maybe this isn't even why its not connecting, any help is greatly appreciated.

One thing you can do, which may be a little painstaking is uninstall your current limewire and download the latest version. If you think that the updates you downloaded weren't that critical you can do a system restore to the day before you downloaded the updates...this will delete the updates.. try your limewire once these updates are gone, if it works you know it was the updates that inhibited it from working and don't install the updates, if it's not the updates... delete the system restore and then you know whatever the problem is has nothing to do with the updates

you might want to check the windows firewall.

go to start menu - settings - control panel - security center

towards the bottom, "manage security settings for:" select windows firewall

if the firewall is "On" go to the exceptions tab, and make sure that limewire is checked if not, make sure it is.

If the firewall isn't it, you might want to check either your virus protection, or any anti-spyware/anti-adware programs you might have to see if they are blocking access to limewire.
