I can't vote yet, but thank you to everyone who is posting respectful comments and educating someone who wants to learn (hence my nickname). Blessings

Because Jewish people revere God so much that they fear to speak his name. This tradition goes back to ancient times when the common people reffered to God as Adonai( which is Hebrew for Lord). Only one time during the year would the high priest speak Yahweh (I am) name...when he would enter the holy of holies in the temple to bless the ark of the convenant and commemorate passover.

Just to expound on that a little...the Jewish faith teaches that spelling out the word "G-d" is wrong, because destroying the name of G-d is a sin. So if you were to write it and then erase it, for instance, or write it and then throw it away, that would be an act of disrespect. Although this is all electronic communication, the tradition still applies.

Because in Judaism some people believe that it is a sin to speak or write God's name, so they take out the vowel.

Have you ever heard of God referred to as "Yahweh"? Technically God's name is "YHWH" with no vowels so it can't be spoken, people added the vowels so that they could say his name without saying his true name.

Some religions prohibit saying the name of God at all, while others prohibit saying it in vain, such as statements like "Oh My God!" So as a way to circumvent this, some people write God as G-d

Because Jews do not believe in speaking or writing the name of God.

Because they're Jewish. I write God as 'God' because I make a distinction between the one created by humans and the true God.

Duh...their "o" key is broken. Sheesh...if it's not in the bible, they don't know how to think of it on their own.
