My husband and I tried to go see pirates of the carribean-dead man's chest last night with my sleeping 9 month old and the lady said she had to charge me and full price cause it was a first viewing. Does that sound right? Has anyone else had to do that? We walked out because i'm not paying $7 for my baby to sleep through a movie...

you should speak with the manager and ask him/her.
if the lady was the manager, you should just wait a week next time.

Well the next time u go get a babysitter. You will probably be able to see the whole movie anyway. And I have been a the movies and I pay full price for the movie and I don't appreciate a fussy or crying baby when i am trying to watch a movie. I am not anti baby, or i am not trying to be mean. I think charging child price is fair.

first off Screw all the people saying that babies don't belong in the theater.. if you baby will sleep through it or you will be willing to get up and leave when he starts crying then you can take him if you want.
second if they had the price posted and it said that children under 2 years old are free, them you need to talk to the GENERAL manager, not just the manager on Duty. they cant just decide today i want to charge you, they have to go by whats posted. so go back and I bet they will give you free passes. good luck

To begin with the baby is too young to be in a movie theatre period. Babies cry and disturb the other patrons...that is probably why you were being charged the full price, because you would be making it difficult for other people to see the movie. Next time you want to go to the theatre hire a babysitter.

There's two opinions here...LOL...My fiance and I don't always see eye to eye, and we have a new baby.
He says, "I'd write to the editor of the paper and put in a complaint!" So he thinks that its wrong to charge full or even partial for a baby to be in the theatre.
As for me, I say," It is wrong to bring a baby into a theatre, unless you can't find anyone to watch them." That time for you and your husband to go to the movies, should be only your two's time to the movies. Until the baby is older and can understand. The reason why they charge for babies is because they interrupt and a lot of people don't understand the purpose of a baby to be in the theatre. I enjoy the time I have with my kids and try to let them know, that there's time for them and time that I need to spend with daddy. If paying is a hassel, than maybe you should just wait to watch the movie until it comes out on video, that way if you didn't like it, than you didn't have to pay so much for it. And if you like it, you can buy it.

I have never heard of that.
It could possibly be because once inside the movie your sleeping baby would be asleep no more from the noise and they were probably trying to avoid complaints of a crying baby from other patrons.
A movie theater in my town refused people with young children from the evening shows that were filled with adults because of that situation. A ton of parents are pissed.

I think it depends on if the Child needs a seat. If the child was in a bassinet or something which required its own movie theater seat, then yes it makes sense to charge you for it. But, if the child was sitting on your lap then you shouldn't have had to pay full price... however there is no legal procedure for this, movie theaters can charge at their own digression

I am glad you walked out, because a movie is no place for a baby. Sorry, if your kid or anyone else's would start crying during a movie, I would go and get my money back.
I have done it. Babies do not belong in movies.

movies are outrageous from admission to concession to the cutoff for children prices.we only do matiness unless its date night for my husband and i its too expensive. at our theater
10 and up pay full price, and over 1 has to pay.
i would have left too.oh i am so sick of ppl complaining about babies i have been to plenty of movies where adults acted far worse than a fussy baby.

Babies dont belong at the movies. Next time, get a sitter and enjoy an evening out with your husband.
