Because we know what we were capable of when we were your age, and it scares us to death to think you are dealing with all the things we did when we were young plus so much more. We really only want you to have it better than we did. So instead of talking to you like an intelligent person we just go slightly psychotic and make total idiots of ourselves. But we still love you and someday when you have kids you really will get it. Until then give them a break, they are scared for you.

The problem is simple, no one is perfect. There for you can never completely satisfy them. I doubt though if they go crazy on you for no reason. You may not believe their reasons are good ones or fully understand them but they have reasons. Try talking with them and making sure you understand completely what they expect and understand how to do what they are wanting.

Try writing them a letter to explain how you feel you are trying but never can seem to please them. Sometimes it is easier to communicate through a letter when no one can interrupt your thoughts on the situation. Be honest and try not to sound argumentative. Perhaps they will begin to see this problem from your point of view. Are you able to see that they want what is best for you, but often don't know how to achieve that without going overboard with worry? Put some of these elements in your letter and mention also some of the things about them that you love, or are proud of. Ask them to tell you some positive things they see in you.

Parents are Parents. You may feel that you don't satisfy them, but maybe you do they just don't tell you. Maybe they think you can give more. My parents were the same, but I tried to give 110% instead of 100% and now they don't go crazy on me anymore. They actually sometimes reward me.

Parents worry and fret. Parents want their kids to excel at everything and to be better than they were. Some parents want to try and live their dreams via their kids. They feel under pressure and perhaps feel that they don't understand the things that you do or say- and that you don't understand them or what they want from you.

You need to talk to them. Sit them down and talk.

because they want to be left alone and not have a teenage questioning their authority when they say no, or dont do what they are asked.

And as the others have said, they are probably tired. Its NOT easy being responsible for the well being of another life.

The reasons are plentiful - even if not obviously. They don't want harm to come to you, they don't want you to get hurt, they don't want you to ruin your life, they want to be able to trust and respect you.

Parents these days have to worry about who their child hangs out with, drugs, pregnancy, STDs, arrest, drive-by shootings, etc. in addition to the fact that most of them need to work thier butts off all day - and don't know what their kids are up to.

Schitzophrenia perhaps, maybe they hear voices, maybe the voices tell them to make your life miserable because you tell the octopus of pain to bite them.

Because your parents are tired. Tired and worn out. Nobody is easygoing when they are tired.
