I was raised as a Nazarene. I then found my husband who is a catholic. We married in my church and discussed raising our children as Nazarenes. We now have a son and he wants to get him baptized Catholic and I want to have a Nazarene baby dedication

So you put yourself in a horrible position by not COMMUNICATING before you married. What a shock, that NEVER happens.

yeah, you "discussed" but you didn't "hear" each other did you

I'd imagine that since your wedding took place in your church and not a Catholic one, you and your husband would have to get your marriage blessed by a Catholic priest before you could have your son baptized.

It's okay for Catholics to marry non-Catholics, but they must have a Catholic wedding (or at least have a blessing from a Catholic priest), and they must promise to raise their children as Catholic.

So, from a Catholic perspective, I think it's natural that your husband would want to have your son baptized Catholic.

First, though, I think having your marriage blessed by a Catholic priest ought to be the priority.

i'm not a nazarene, nor am i a catholic, but is there any opposition to doing both? does doing either ceremony label that child either a nazarene or a catholic?

Why not wait til the child is older and let him decide how he wants to be baptized.
