Once you learn Spanish, any of the other Romance languages should come pretty easily because they use different variations of much of the same vocabulary and sentence structure. French, Italian, and Portuguese would all fall into this category. I've been told that a Spanish speaker can be fluent in Portuguese in as little as 3 months, becuase they are so similar. Personally, I chose to learn French after learning Spanish, it's less similar to Spanish, but probably more useful overall than Portuguese or Italian.

NM505 is right. It is very easy to learn another romance language after knowing one. So, basically, i think it would be easiest to choose either Portuguese, Italian, French or Romanian (being they are all romance languages). Portuguese is very very very similar to Spanish, just different pronounciation. If letters were pronounced the same it would probably be the same as Spanish, just like a different dialect, it is that similar. Italian is also pretty similar. French and Romanian aren't that similar, they are in a gramatical sense, however some words are the same.

If you really want a challange though, learn a Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or a Slavic language. They are totally different than English and Spanish, but very cool! It's great you want to learn languages! Keep it up!

Hablo español perfectamente, porque naci en Venezuela y vivo en Venezuela...but try to speak english and italian...and understanding a native speaker is very difficult....when is your own language is difficult to talk slowly...
I´ve try with "Skype" (www.skype.com) to talk with other people in english and italian, so usually I chat or talk with people that are in Italy or other countries...also here in yahoo answers to practice (writting english or italian)
So my recommendation is that you download Skype, and set skype me status to be contact by other people....and talk and chat without fear to commit a mistake.....
The next language that you can learn could be german, but that depends of your carrer....
If you want to contact me by skype...just send me an e-mail....

These days you can learn how to speak Spanish over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Spanish online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/spanish The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Spanish in just 3 months.

I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Spanish language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.
