I don't think you should break up with her. Try to work things out with her. If that doesn't work, then you might try to break it to her slowly.

Be honest but kind. Tell her that you don't want to hurt her but you can see that she's no longer happy in the relationship and neither are you. If she gets really upset perhaps suggest a trial separation.

I cannot stress this enough: YOU MUST HAVE THIS CONVERSATION FACE TO FACE. I know it's hard but this is a time for honesty and courage. And whatever you do, don't get drawn into break up sex because it will hurt her even more.

Be honest with her but give her a chance to state her opinion. She might have some other things going on and not be able to give you her full attention. Tell her over a nice dinner out in public not your usual hangout place.

Like the Nike commerical says, "Just do it"! If she is a normally calm person, then try to break up with her in a public place (like a coffee shop or ball game -- but not if its loud), so she can see your face. If she tends to scream and/or throw things, then do it by phone or e-mail.
