heterophobic: The very reason Tillman is so popular is because he was one of the FEW courageous athletes to fight for his country. Think before you react with stupid angry responses.

99% probably would not. The Pat Tillmans are few and far between in the world of overpaid, overrated clowns of today!

Most of the athletes I hear about today are spoiled brats, egotistical, greedy, pampered, perfumed party boys who have no sense of responsibility.

Latrell Sprewell is a good example. This guy is making $14.6 million a season to play in the NBA, but he says he has no interest in helping the Timberwolves win a world championship because they aren't helping him pursue a contract extension.

Guys like this are too busy figuring out what tattoo they should get next, while they listen to mindless rap music about "pimpin' some ho's."

Tennis players are a notable exception. People like Pete Sampras are decent, well rounded people who are kind, considerate, and generous with their time. Martina Navratilova, formerly of the Czech Republic, once commented on how proud she was to be part of American society. She sounded more patriotic than 99% of Americans.

Would today's basketball and football players heed the call to defend our country? No. They'd be too occupied drinking, carousing, buying bling and contorting their hair into ever more bizarre shapes.... when they weren't covering it up with a "do-rag".

"Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio.....?"

Sure but, I'd like to see how many of these young celebrities would go to combat if asked. Could you imagine Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Spears and Keven Featherline being shipped off to Iraq. I would finally have respect for them.

Oh yeah, I forgot Jessica and Ashley Simpson and we might as well throw in Nick Lashae.

Pat Tillman is my ideal of a true hero. He sacrificed fame, fortune, and his life for my freedom. Ask Ricky Williams to do that.

No. I'd be interested in knowing how many would have answered the call if it weren't for (a) the draft and (b) the advantages enlistees had over draftees.

Ask T.O. Can you imagine seing him in full military uniform? If he joined the army, he would destroy them just like he destroyed all the teams he's been on so far. Greedy athletes have no place in the army.

Why don't you ask Pat Tillman's family that and get back to us?

some would and some wouldnt. many of them are too concerend with money to stay with a team for a few less million, much less give it all up for $13000 a year in the war.
