there is a good and bad about living together before you get married. you'll get to know the person really well but since you both are now together, there's no urgent need to get married.
the best way is set a time line. i know it sounds like a business, but since you're going to invest you life with him, you might as well treat it as such. agree on the time period the whole relationship will have structure.

i honestly think they should live together for 5 years, b/c i've heard that the first 5 years of marriage is the hardest and once you overcome that your chances of making it go up a ton. i did it and we're at 12 years now!
